Surrey smash-and-grab robberies investigation nets 23 charges<\/p>\n

The Surrey Police Service\u2019s prolific offender unit has net 23 criminal charges against a 28-year-old man resulting from its investigation into smash-and-grab robberies at Surrey electronics stores between June and October.<\/p>\n
Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton said Austin Thomas Romeo Hogan was arrested on October 5, allegedly with a loaded gun in his possession. <\/p>\n
Police say retail staff were assaulted and display cabinets were damaged. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe estimated cost in stolen goods and damaged property to the Surrey retailers is approximately $100,000,\u201d Houghton said. <\/p>\n
Houghton said Hogan has been charged with seven counts of robbery, four counts of theft over $5,000, one count of theft under $5,000, two counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of mischief, one count of possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence, one count of possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of possession of a firearm while prohibited.<\/p>\n
