decades.

Parrish, who won a mayoral byelection in June 2024 to succeed Crombie, has told INSAUGA Canada on several occasions the past couple of years she supports extending the Toronto subway into Mississauga’s City Centre from Kipling station.

But, she said in an early 2025 interview, only if the provincial government picks up the tab.

Former mayor Hazel McCallion didn’t want a Mississauga subway

The notion of extending the subway line into Mississauga has been considered numerous times going back to the 1980s, but former longtime Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion wasn’t interested in such a plan.

Parrish told INSAUGA Canada in February 2025 that <a will ever get a subway, despite billions of dollars being invested in rapid transit in the city.

The poll asked readers: Will Mississauga ever get a subway?

Of the 2,979 votes cast, 57.4 per cent, or 1,710 respondents, said “No, never.”

Another 42.6 per cent, or 1,269 people, said “Yes, it’s only a matter of time.”

A <a idea and 15 per cent are unsure.

        <a href="https://www.insauga.com/editorial-guidelines" class="editorial-guidelines-link d-block mb-4" rel="nofollow noopener"
