Nearly 25,000 Brampton residents have already cast ballots in the city’s municipal election, with advance voting up an estimated 8 per cent compared to the previous election.

The increase comes as Brampton prepares for Voting Day on Monday, Oct. 26, when residents will choose their next mayor, city and regional councillors, and school board trustees.

According to the City of Brampton, nearly 25,000 voters participated during five days of advance voting on Oct. 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17.

The higher turnout could point to growing interest in municipal politics, although the advance voting numbers alone do not explain what is driving the increase.

More than 425,000 eligible electors can vote in Brampton’s 2026 municipal election.

Residents who have not yet voted will have one final opportunity on Oct. 26, with voting locations open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can cast their ballots at any voting location within their ward.

Residents can use the city’s online voting location tool at brampton.ca/voters to find a convenient location.

Eligible voters must be Canadian citizens who are at least 18 years old on Voting Day and who live in Brampton, own or rent property in the city, or are the spouse of a property owner or tenant. Other restrictions may apply.

Voters are encouraged to bring their voter notice and acceptable identification showing their name and Brampton address. The voter notice is not required to vote and cannot be used as identification.

Residents who did not receive a voter notice can check whether they are on the Voters’ List through the city’s online tool. They can also add or update their information in person at Brampton City Hall or at a voting location within their ward on Voting Day. Acceptable identification showing their name and Brampton address is required.

All voting locations are accessible, and designated locations in each ward will offer accessible voting units with features including touchscreen voting, audio ballots, Braille keypads and other tools to help residents mark their ballots independently.

Unofficial election results will begin appearing at brampton.ca/bramptonvotes after polls close at 8 p.m. on Oct. 26. Results will be posted as they become available, with successful candidates announced after the results are certified.
