It was my art interwoven with your art, and it all kind of spoke to each other in tandem,” said Komangapik.

The bike path is a key entrance point to the University of Ottawa campus as it is directly outside the uOttawa O-Train station. (Gregory Conway/CBC)

Expanding the project

Johnson told CBC News that the aesthetic and visibility projects are part of a broader Indigenous action plan for U of O, started in 2017, which also includes policy and institutional changes.

“We’re starting to move into more physical aesthetic representations on campus that reflect internal changes that have taken place over the last decade,” said Johnson.

Johnson told CBC News that plans for the project to expand are in progress. Further artwork will continue onto the glass of the CAREG building and pillars closer to the station. The area will also feature a large-scale sculpture.

“We’re just working with the city on finalizing the steps to have permission to paint some of the areas that belong to the City of Ottawa. They’re on board, it’s just a process,” said Johnson.

Listen to this article Estimated 3 minutes The audio version of this article is generated by AI-based technology.…

[194295
49,48,20739
post-940336","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ottawa","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-ottawa
["GET
