In addition to being named one of the World’s Most Beautiful Arenas for 2026, the rec centre is also nominated for one of three additional 2026 World Titles, which recognize outstanding architecture and interior design.

Opened on Jan. 27, the $153-million facility serves as a recreational hub for central-north Edmonton, bringing swimming, cycling, fitness, and other activities together under one roof.

Through partnerships with the Alberta Velodrome Association (AVA) and World Triathlon Series Edmonton, the rec centre is North America’s first indoor triathlon training facility.
