With Ryan Blaney winning last night at Daytona, Alex Bowman remains in the NASCAR<\/a> Playoffs by just inches, really. Bowman could have easily been kicked from the 16-driver field, but Blaney\u2019s last-lap pass for the lead proved beneficial for the 48 team. <\/p>\n

After the race, Alex Bowman had stuck around to talk to the media. He was asked about what he thinks he owes Ryan Blaney for keeping him in the playoffs. <\/p>\n

It turns out, Bowman owes him a lot. Like\u2026a LOT. <\/p>\n

\u201c7,000,000 beers. So, yeah, I don\u2019t\u2026 I\u2019m certainly thankful for him,\u201d Bowman said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports<\/a>. \u201cYeah, Ryan\u2019s a good dude and happy to see him win. He\u2019s had a ton of huge hits here. I don\u2019t know what to say other than that, just thankful that he won.\u201d <\/p>\n

Pockrass asked Bowman how it was to watch this race from the hauler. Turns out, not fun. <\/p>\n

\u201cShi**y. It\u2019s not a good time to be me,\u201d Bowman said. \u201cBut yeah, I mean, more so, I just don\u2019t want to let my team down. They\u2019ve worked really hard, they\u2019ve done a lot of good things, and you know, the situation that we\u2019re in coming here, like, it\u2019s tough. And we crash, and something that\u2019s outside of our control, and then you just have to sit and watch. It\u2019s not fun for any of these guys. So, they all work really hard, and they deserve to be in it, and I\u2019m glad that we\u2019re in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

For what it\u2019s worth, Ryan Blaney said he\u2019d settle for 5,000,000 beers<\/a>. So, Alex Bowman doesn\u2019t have to worry too much. <\/p>\n

Alex Bowman wrecks out at Daytona, survives<\/p>\n

It is amazing that we didn\u2019t see a new, first-time winner last night at Daytona. Justin Haley, Chris Buescher, Ryan Preece, Daniel Su\u00e1rez, Cole Custer, Erik Jones \u2013 it felt like any of them were going to win it. With a few laps to go, it didn\u2019t feel like if we would get a new winner, it was just up in the air which new winner we would get. <\/p>\n

In two laps, Alex Bowman\u2019s season was saved. Out on the sidelines, watching from the infield, Bowman was powerless. Even more than a driver usually is at Daytona. But late-race heroics from Ryan Blaney kicked in and inadvertently saved the day. <\/p>\n

Blaney went from 13th to 1st in two laps. It was a consequence of the third lane opening on the outside and giving Blaney and a few others a chance to go around the two inside rows. Once Blaney got next to Custer going out of Turn 4, it was a drag race. <\/p>\n

In the end, Blaney won, Alex Bowman advances, and there were a few heartbreaks out on the track.
