<\/p>\nTALLADEGA, Ala. \u2014 If the NASCAR Cup Series championship battle needed a shakeup, Talladega Superspeedway may provide the largest one yet.<\/p>\n
Just two races remain after Sunday\u2019s YellaWood 500, and the postseason picture tightened dramatically following Phoenix. Kyle Larson\u2019s advantage shrank from 49 points to just five over Christopher Bell, while seven drivers now sit within 56 points of the lead heading to NASCAR\u2019s most unpredictable track.<\/p>\n
Talladega has a long history of turning championship races upside down. The last 12 Cup races at the 2.66-mile superspeedway have been won by 12 different drivers, and nine of the last 13 races ended with a last-lap pass for the victory.<\/p>\n

While Larson remains atop the standings, drafting tracks have not been kind to the Hendrick Motorsports driver. Larson owns the worst average finish among Chase contenders on drafting tracks this season at 30.6 and has yet to win on a drafting track in his Cup career despite 58 starts.<\/p>\n
That puts additional attention on drivers such as Tyler Reddick, who arrives with momentum after winning at Phoenix and leading all Chase drivers in drafting-track points this season. Reddick won both Daytona and Atlanta earlier this year, giving him three drafting-track victories over the last two seasons.<\/p>\n
Defending fall Talladega winner Chase Briscoe enters the weekend riding consecutive victories at Las Vegas and Charlotte before an eighth-place finish at Phoenix. Briscoe climbed to third in the standings and has gained 99 points on Larson over the last three races.<\/p>\n
Ryan Blaney may be one of the biggest threats. A three-time Talladega winner, Blaney has scored stage points in all 14 postseason stages this year and owns six career drafting-track victories. However, he\u2019s also been caught up in accidents in three of the last four Talladega races.<\/p>\n
Another driver to watch is Carson Hocevar, whose breakthrough Cup victory came at Talladega in April. Hocevar has finished in the top six in each of the last three Talladega races and has emerged as one of the sport\u2019s strongest superspeedway racers.<\/p>\n
