Scott Wheatley, executive director of the Chamber, said the modified trophies still retain their iconic glassy-green look, but have been updated.

“We might have changed up the trophy a bit for decade number two,” noted Wheatley. “So, that’ll be different. Same green and gold theme, though.”

He added the field of nominees this year “was a good crop” with both fresh and familiar businesses and people. The Chamber released the names of the award finalists Oct. 19 (see full list below). The winners will be unveiled at the Clovies Awards gala on Nov. 12 at Cloverdale’s Northview Golf and Country Club.

Wheatley said as” the voice” of East Surrey’s business community, the Chamber was “excited” to announce the finalists.

The evening will start with a private cocktail reception all potential award winners. Then the main dinner and awards ceremony will take place.

Wheatley added there will be three auctions this year. An online auction will open Oct. 30 and there will be both a live and silent auction at the awards ceremony. He’ll put up a link on cloverdalechamber.ca once the online auction is live.

He also noted the Chamber’s Indigenous Business of the Year award is going into its fourth year and they received more nominees for that award than ever.

Along with the awarding of the shiny-green Clovie trophies, Pat Chessell will once again provide the musical entertainment.

The Clovies celebrate business success in Clayton, Cloverdale, and Campbell Heights. Money raised through the Clovies helps fund the Chamber’s programs, business services, and the Cloverdale Rodeo Youth Initiative Foundation, which in turn funds many scholarships in Cloverdale and Surrey.

Wheatley said more than 200 business and community leaders attend the Clovies each year.

Tickets are available by visiting cloverdalechamber.ca and clicking on “events” and then “The Clovies.”

***

Finalists for The Clovies 11th annual awards

Here are this year’s categories and nominees:

Business Excellence – Large Business (20+ Employees)

Honours a larger business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.

CTK Bio
Klondike Cold Storage
North Western Property Maintenance

Business Excellence – Medium Business (10 – 19 Employees)

Honours a medium business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.

180 Kitchens
JellyBean AutoCrafters
Merry Maids
The Young at Arts Academy Ltd

Business Excellence – Small Business (1-9 Employees)

Honours a small business that exemplifies superior customer service while embracing innovation and providing a positive work environment for its employees to grow and develop.

Dance Xpressions Studio
Neat Elite Organizing
Spots Carpet Cleaning
Thrive Greenery and Gift

New Business of the Year

Honours a “start-up” with a minimum of six (6) months to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months since incorporation and is achieving outstanding results in a short period of time.

Clayton Smiles Dental
I Love Childcare Clayton
Paws to Play Groom &
