{"id":942115,"date":"2026-10-22T13:36:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T13:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/942115\/"},"modified":"2026-10-22T13:36:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T13:36:13","slug":"paul-maurice-not-thrilled-with-florida-panthers-game-in-loss-to-ottawa-senators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/942115\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul Maurice Not Thrilled with Florida Panthers Game in Loss to Ottawa Senators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Florida Panthers got the party started in the right way Wednesday night for the much anticipated return of <a href=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/tag\/brady-tkachuk\/\" class=\"pb-player-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brady Tkachuk<\/a> to face the Ottawa Senators. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tkachuk, booed immensely from warmups through his exit with 1:14 remaining, gave the Panthers the initial lead on a power-play goal off a pass from Matthew.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"pb-lineups-autolink\"><a href=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/florida-panthers-lines\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Panthers lines tonight: projected lineup and starting goalie \u2192<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After that, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/ottawa-senators-5-florida-panthers-1-oct-21-2026-brady-tkachuk-return\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/ottawa-senators-5-florida-panthers-1-oct-21-2026-brady-tkachuk-return\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">all Senators in a 5-1 win<\/a> between the two Atlantic Division foes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI guess,\u2019\u2019 Paul Maurice said, \u201cthey were more excited than we were.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brady Tkachuk\u2019s goal came on Florida\u2019s first shot on goal of the night 10 minutes into the game. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although Ottawa tied the score late in the period, it was the second period that really did the Panthers in. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Maurice pointed out, the Panthers spent a lot of time of the second period in the penalty box, giving Ottawa a few extra power-play chances it did not cash in on \u2014 but set the tone for the period. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida went into the third down 3-1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dThe designing feature of our game is the forecheck,\u2019\u2019 Maurice said. \u201cI don\u2019t ever think we got to it.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for Brady, he said it was \u201cnice to be back\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/cursed-fight-score-brady-tkachuk-eventful-opening-period-back-ottawa-senators\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/floridahockeynow.com\/cursed-fight-score-brady-tkachuk-eventful-opening-period-back-ottawa-senators\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">despite all the vitriol he faced from the fans<\/a> who once cheered him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWere they ruthless? No, it was good,\u2019\u2019 Brady said. \u201cThat shows the passion that they have. One chapter closed. Like I said, this is an exciting new chapter that we are living. It was nice to be in front of this passionate fan base. \u2026 Lot of great moments, lots of ups-and-downs. Nothing but great things that I experienced, but my family experienced as well.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Panthers flew out of town immediately with a game tonight in Pittsburgh. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maurice said the Panthers have been good about shelving a loss and bouncing back in the next one. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll the game we have lost, and, we have lost some games in the past,\u2019\u2019 Maurice said, \u201cwe have been able to find the reason for it, and use it. You win or you learn in this league.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Said Brady: \u201cNot the outcome we wanted, but we just started a road trip.
