We’ve seen some pretty interesting rider transfers as teams firm up for 2027. The other thing we always look forward to as cycling fans are the Grand Tour routes.

The routes for the 2027 Tour de France Fellas and Tour de France Femmes are out, and both races will get rolling in Great Britain before heading across the Channel to France.

The 2027 Tour de France

The men’s Tour starts in Edinburgh on July 2, with three stages in Scotland, England and Wales. The opening week features a 38 km individual time trial and a summit finish on the Col du Grand Colombier. Later, the riders will take on the Alps, a punchy finish in Mende and a pair of demanding Pyrenean stages.

The biggest test comes on Stage 18, a 174 km mountain stage with 5,400 m of climbing. The route includes the Col du Soulor and Col du Tourmalet before the final ascent to the Col du Portet. A second individual time trial, this one 33 km in Toulouse, also gives the GC contenders an important chance to gain time. The race finishes in Paris on July 25.

Montmartre returns

The big news is for Stage 21, that the popular Montmartre climb is there again.

The cobbled climb has completely changed the Champs-Élysées stage, transforming it from a traditional bunch sprint (and every now and again, but not often, breakaway a day) to a race for the punchy Classics riders. In 2025, it was Wout van Aert who took the final dub, and this year it was Mathieu van der Poel.

🚩 Edimbourg ➡️ Paris 🏁

🤩 Here is the official route of the #TDF2027!

🤩 Voici le parcours officiel du #TDF2027 ! https://t.co/0EtPvXzEq4

— Tour de France™ (@LeTour) October 22, 2026

Both times, yellow jersey Tadej Pogačar was right there in the mix, too. Start lists are of course, not even remotely ready–but there should be a good mix of Canucks too. Might be nice to see a guy like Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides, Que.’s Nick Zukowsky do his first Tour. He’s been clutch at the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España–in mega breaks, or as a workhorse for his team leader Tom Pidcock. He’ll have another big name on the squad next year too in Giulio Ciccone. Could we see Oakville, Ont.’s Michael Leonard do his first Grand Tour next July? Normally you’d expect a GT rookie to start with say, the Vuelta or Giro, but never know anymore.

The 2027 Tour de France Femmes

The women’s Tour begins in Leeds on July 30. Its first three stages are in Britain, including a historic 18 km team time trial through London, finishing on The Mall. The race then moves to France for a mix of hilly stages, a sprint opportunity between Orléans and Bourges, and two consecutive days of climbing.

🤩There you go: here is the route of the #TDFF2027 avec Zwift !

🤩 Nous y sommes : voici le parcours officiel du #TDFF2027 avec Zwift !

#WatchTheFemmes https://t.co/NAtrL7BKRR

— Le Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift (@LeTourFemmes) October 22, 2026

Stage 7 finishes at La Loge des Gardes, before the riders tackle the hilly roads around Clermont-Ferrand. The final stage heads to the iconic Puy-de-Dôme, with an 11.3 km climb averaging 7.8 per cent providing the last major test for the overall contenders. Unlike the men’s race, the women’s route avoids the Alps and Pyrenees, putting extra emphasis on punchy climbs and the final summit finish.

Vollering the favourite…plus Canadians

The women’s race wraps up on Aug. 7, with both Tours promising plenty of climbing and some important tests against the clock. Demi Vollering will be there in her rainbow jersey, but she may be swapping it out for yellow, earlier on. There will be plenty of Canadian firepower too, The (former) world champion Magdeleine Vallières Mill should excel in the climbs–as will multiple world champion and recent silver medallist Isabella Holmgren. Maybe the Lidl-Trek rider will see her sister Ava join the race, too. This year, Isabella took an impressive 8th overall, signalling she is very much one of the top riders in the women’s peloton.

As always, look to super-talent Sarah Van Dam to be in the mix on the hilly stages and the reduced bunch sprints. She’s had her first pro win this year, but how about a win at the Tour? She came damn close at the Giro, taking second.

Almost certainly we will see Alison Jackson on her St Michel–Préférence Home–Auber93 team, given that it’s a hometown team.

It will be July before you know it!

The pro racing season is over–but there’s still a lotta chatter about next year.
