Some 1.5 million tips submitted to Canadian Crime Stoppers programs over the last 25 years were exposed in a data breach, according to reports.

Peel Regional Police said on Thursday that it has “suspended” its partnership with Crime Stoppers amid news of the breach and “will not resume participation in the program until we are fully satisfied that the platform is secure.”

“The safety and security of Peel residents who have used the Crime Stoppers program is our primary concern.
