A trio of fall exhibits can be found at the Museum of Surrey.<\/p>\n
Two of three are already open at the Cloverdale museum and one is set to welcome visitors in November.<\/p>\n
Open now, \u201cWhere are the Children? Healing the Legacy of Residential Schools\u201d is showing in the Indigenous Hall Gallery. \u201cAwakening the Boundless: The Inner Architecture of the Self\u201d is showing in the Community Treasures Gallery.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Many Layers of Hair\u201d is scheduled to open at the beginning of November.<\/p>\n
INDIGENOUS HALL<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere are the Children? Healing the Legacy of Residential Schools\u201d opened Aug. 18 and runs until Dec. 19.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Legacy of Hope Foundation exhibition uses archival photographs and documents to tell the story of the 125-year history of the Residential School System,\u201d notes information from the City of Surrey. \u201cPhotographs, text panels and artifacts move the witness through the process of leaving home and arriving at school, to school activities and being part of a classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n
COMMUNITY TREASURES<\/p>\n
\u201cAwakening the Boundless: The Inner Architecture of the Self\u201d is an art exhibition that opened Aug. 4 and also runs until Dec. 19.<\/p>\n
According to information from the City of Surrey, the art exhibition \u201cinvites visitors to explore the world inside themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surrey artist Haisha Shahalimi uses mixed materials and lighting \u201cto bring ideas of humanity and the universe into everyday life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Haisha is a new artist who explores \u201cthe possibilities that exist within all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
FEATURE HALL<\/p>\n
Pushed back from a previously scheduled opening date of Oct. 15, \u201cThe Many Layers of Hair\u201d is now set to open Nov. 3 and run until April 25, 2027.<\/p>\n
\u201cExplore the relationship between hair and identity\u2014untangling a long history of tradition, social acceptance, discrimination, resistance, and self-expression,\u201d notes information about the show found on surrey.ca.<\/p>\n
The exhibit is being billed as \u201cinteractive\u201d and it will showcase \u201chistoric and intercultural stories to help visitors connect with each other through the shared yet diverse human experience of hair.\u201d<\/p>\n
