\u201cHe was outstanding,\u201d Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said of Skinner. \u201cI thought he did a fantastic job \u2026 we gave up two 5-on-6 goals and an overtime goal. \u201cI just saw it on top of his pad, so I was just hoping the ref wouldn\u2019t blow (the whistle), and he didn\u2019t. So I was able to get it,\u201d Vilardi said.<\/p>\n

Connor gave Winnipeg a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later at 12:38. Neal Pionk<\/a> intercepted a pass from Nils Lundkvist<\/a>\u00a0in the Stars\u2019 defensive zone and passed it to Connor in the circle, and he sent a one-timer into the top corner.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood hockey game, but our guys played pretty hard,\u201d Gulutzan said. \u201cWe were pretty good all night. Just got a little sloppy in the second.\u201d<\/p>\n

Said Skinner: \u201cIt’s tough to lose that point. Those were big points. It’s tough to lose that way, especially like, we felt we had it in the bag going into the 6-on-5, and then they obviously make a couple sweet plays and make us pay. But that’s a good team over there. I thought we battled.”<\/p>\n

NOTES: Robertson recorded his 500th NHL point with an assist on Johnston\u2019s goal. He became the seventh-fastest U.S.-born player to 500 career points in NHL history, behind Jeremy Roenick<\/a> (430 games), Kevin Stevens<\/a>\u00a0(431), Craig Janney<\/a> (435), Auston Matthews<\/a> (445), Joe Mullen<\/a> (446) and Neal Broten<\/a>\u00a0(461). Robertson also became the third-fastest player in franchise history to reach 500 points behind Minnesota North Stars forwards Broten (461) and Dino Ciccarelli<\/a> (465). \u2026 Dallas forward Radek Faksa<\/a>\u00a0left the game in the third period with an unspecified injury.
