Gunther Werks, a California-based shop specialized in building 911-based restomods<\/a>, has unveiled its latest project. The limited-edition Gunther Werks Brundle Edition Turbo was developed jointly with Martin Brundle, a former F1 racer<\/a> who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990, and his daughter Charlie Brundle, a designer who has worked for companies like McLaren and Aston Martin.<\/p>\n

Charlie Brundle designed the Brundle Edition Turbo\u2019s livery as a tribute to her father\u2019s racing career. The look is characterized by two-tone blue and white paint picked as a tribute to Martin Brundle\u2019s crash helmet, and the designer chose to make it personal. She added several references to her father\u2019s racing legacy to the design and even hid a few Easter eggs that she\u2019s keeping under wraps.<\/p>\n

Other parts of the styling are a lot less subtle than the Easter eggs. The driver can adjust the huge rear wing to provide different levels of downforce, and the edition-specific center-locking wheels are made with forged magnesium to reduce unsprung weight.<\/p>\n

You won\u2019t find much that still carries a Porsche part number inside. Gunther Werks and the Brundle family configured the car with carbon-fiber sport seats, carbon-fiber door panels, a carbon-fiber center console, and a carbon-fiber steering wheel with a red 12-o\u2019clock mark, among other composite parts. Porsche Classic\u2019s single-DIN navigation radio is standard, and a quote that enthusiasts will undoubtedly laugh at appears on the dashboard: \u201cThe most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on the Turbo platform, the Brundle Edition is powered by an air-cooled, 4.0-liter flat-six engine rated at 860 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque. Those figures make it more powerful than any regular-production 911 that Porsche has built. The engine spins the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Gunther Werks fitted a double-wishbone suspension, Brembo-sourced carbon-ceramic brakes, as well as Sport and Track driving profiles that were tweaked in-house with the help of Martin himself.<\/p>\n

Production of the Gunther Werks Brundle Edition Turbo is limited to five examples, and each one will be delivered with a Formula 1-homologated Bell HP77 helmet finished in the same livery as the car and signed by Martin Brundle. Pricing isn\u2019t available yet, but you\u2019ll be able to check out the Turbo in person at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, scheduled to open its doors on October 29.<\/p>\n
