PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Jaylen Brown<\/a> says there’s \u201cno beef\u201d between himself and former Boston teammate\u00a0Jayson Tatum<\/a>\u00a0even as their squabbles have dragged into the season.<\/p>\n

Now in Philadelphia after an off-season trade, Brown didn’t quite seem ready to call a truce with Tatum.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s no beef,\u201d Brown said after the\u00a0Sixers beat Milwaukee on Saturday night. \u201cThere might be a little lamb chops and some gravy. He should stay ready at all times.”<\/p>\n

Tatum started the post-game back-and-forth on after the Celtics beat the Knicks a night earlier<\/p>\n

Brown posted a social media response that took issue with Tatum saying in a\u00a0video on his YouTube channel<\/a>\u00a0that he was \u201cjust as much caught off guard as the rest of the world\u201d by Brown\u2019s trade to the Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Brown responded on his Instagram account with a baseball cap emoji. \u201cCap\u201d is slang for something that is not true. Asked if he had any response, Tatum sighed before expressing his frustrations with the entire situation for several minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have any animosity or beef, or ill will towards him. I think the toughest part is since he\u2019s not on the Celtics anymore, the narrative or the conversations haven\u2019t been enough about what we accomplished \u2014 all the games we won, winning a championship, how we\u2019ve grown together. It\u2019s turned into this drama type of thing,” Tatum said.<\/p>\n

Brown said he had no plans to talk to Tatum ahead of Boston\u2019s first visit to Philadelphia this season on Tuesday. Nov. 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve both got so much stuff in front of us,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

Brown added: \u201cJayson comes from a wonderful family. We accomplished some great things. He\u2019s a hell of a basketball player. He\u2019s got a great PR team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both players have spoken glowingly at times about how they grew and thrived together during their nine years together as teammates.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s morphed into something else since the Celtics chose Tatum as the player they want to build around after trading Brown in what amounted to a move to cut\u00a0one of the two players with $300 million contracts\u00a0from the payroll.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brown celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday with 27 points that included a late three-pointer on a pass from Joel Embiid that gave the all-star center a triple-double. Embiid had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists and went 12 of 14 from the free-throw line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still getting used to the guys; where my spots are,\u201d Brown said. \u201cAs I get more and more comfortable, I\u2019ll be able to make more plays for myself and others.\u201d<\/p>\n

Philadelphia is 3-0 with their first two wins over the NBA champion Knicks and Eastern Conference finalist Cleveland Cavaliers.<\/p>\n

Brown was serenaded with an off-key version of \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d by rookie Labaron Philon Jr. earlier in the day at shootaround. Sixers fans broke into their rendition of the song in the first half with Brown at the free-throw line.<\/p>\n

There just might be more on the menu than a birthday cake.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo beef,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIt should never, ever be that. It\u2019s just basketball. We\u2019re both blessed. It might be a little lamb chop.
