\n\tHolland Taylor<\/a> is speaking out about why she didn\u2019t renew her contract on \u201cTwo and a Half Men<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress spent six years as Evelyn Harper, the mother of Charlie (Charlie Sheen) and Alan (Jon Cryer), on the CBS sitcom. She recently revealed that part of the reason she left the show was due to the small paycheck.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey never paid me very well on that show. I was paid on that show what I had made on a series like eight years before or something,\u201d Taylor said on the \u201cAlchemy with Anthony Mason<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cAnd I got four Emmy nominations, and they never gave me a raise. They usually do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTaylor was nominated four times for supporting actress during her time on the sitcom. After the sixth season, she declined to renew her contract and instead returned occasionally as a guest star.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI stopped being under contract. So, in other words, they would say, \u2018Can you do a guest appearance at the end of March?\u2019 And I would say, \u2018No, I cannot,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI only did it if I wanted to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTaylor said the producers were \u201castonished\u201d by her decision, but she appreciated having flexibility in scheduling.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI loved a lot about that show, but they were not full of courtesies,\u201d Taylor added. \u201cIn any case, when the six years were up, I said, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be on a contract anymore, but I will visit the show occasionally if you want.\u2019 I mean, I did play the boys\u2019 mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress said the team thought she was negotiating and told her they could not afford to pay her more. \u201cI said, \u2018You could actually pay me the cost of this building, but don\u2019t bother because I don\u2019t want to continue on under contract,’\u201d she said. \u201cAnd they said, \u2018But we can\u2019t afford to give you more.\u2019 I said, \u2018I\u2019m cool with it. I just will come back as a guest from time to time.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d ran for 12 seasons from 2003 to 2015.
