LAHAINA, Maui \u2013 The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team sits in 15th place after battling windy conditions to post a first-round 304 (+20) on Sunday at the 12th annual K\u0101’anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER.

\nDue to impending bad weather expected to hit Maui later in the week, the tournament was moved up a day. The 20-team field will now play 27 holes on Monday, followed by the final nine holes on Tuesday at the Royal K\u0101’anapali Golf Course.
\n\u00a0
\nJosh Hayashida<\/a> paced the Rainbow Warriors during the opening round, carding a 1-over 72 to sit in a tie for 17th place. Competing as an individual, Stryker Leick<\/a> followed closely behind with a 2-over 73, tying for 23rd overall. Dane Watanabe<\/a> fired a 3-over 74 to tie for 30th, and Cameron Combado<\/a> posted a 5-over 76 to finish the day tied for 61st.

\nAlec Hilgers<\/a>, also competing as an individual, shot an 80 to tie for 103rd. Freshman Campbell Kerr<\/a>, Troy Gadalla<\/a>, and individual Chris Salem<\/a> each posted an 82 to tie for 114th.

\nClemson leads the field at 2-under 282, holding a two-stroke advantage over second-place Georgia (284). Clemson’s Hampton Roberts sits atop the individual leaderboard following a 4-under 67.
