Alexander Zverev continues his quest for Grand Slam success at this year\u2019s US Open, where he is the third seed.<\/p>\n

Zverev has a good chance of US Open success<\/a>, although he faces a tricky opener against Alejandro Tabilo.<\/p>\n

He lost the final of the US Open in 2020, which represents one of three Grand Slam runner-up finishes for Zverev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The German fell to Dominic Thiem in New York, and suffered the same fate at the 2024 French Open and 2025 Australian Open.<\/p>\n

ATP<\/a> number three Zverev lost to Carlos Alcaraz in Paris last year and Jannik Sinner in Melbourne earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The former world number two enters the 2025 US Open with one title this season, which arrived on the clay courts of Munich in April.<\/p>\n

Sharing his verdict on the 24-time ATP champion, former world number one Jimmy Connors<\/a> said on the Advantage Connors podcast: \u201cActually I have watched him play a little bit over the summer and the more I watch him play the more I see that he has got the goods.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am trying to figure out what is holding him back. I know he has had opportunities to win some Slams but I\u2019m trying to figure out what is holding him back.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I can see, he has got a big game. What would he need to do to get over that hump, I guess is the right way to say it and win himself a Slam?\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexander Zverev Grand Slam finals record ahead of US Open<\/p>\n

Zverev has enjoyed a phenomenal career, although it remains to be seen what will come next for the 28-year-old.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s enjoyed plenty of success on the courts but also plenty of heartache, which could play on his mind in New York.<\/p>\n

Still, he should be able to take great confidence from his run at Flushing Meadows in 2020, although that was a particularly painful loss.<\/p>\n

Zverev stormed to an early lead over his close friend Thiem, who came from behind to win 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(8-6).<\/p>\n

But another opportunity has now arisen for the experienced ATP star, who enters the US Open with 43 wins and 16 losses in 2025.<\/p>\n
