{"id":948892,"date":"2026-10-28T03:14:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T03:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/948892\/"},"modified":"2026-10-28T03:14:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T03:14:12","slug":"malaysians-can-now-use-duitnow-qr-in-five-more-overseas-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/948892\/","title":{"rendered":"Malaysians Can Now Use DuitNow QR in Five More Overseas Markets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Free Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Get the hottest Fintech Malaysia News once a month in your Inbox<\/p>\n<p>Malaysians travelling to China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines and Laos can now pay at participating merchants using DuitNow QR.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.my\/tag\/PayNet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet)<\/a> has launched the service through Alipay+, Ant International\u2019s unified wallet gateway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.my\/tag\/Maybank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Maybank<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.my\/tag\/CIMB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">CIMB<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.my\/tag\/Hong-Leong-Bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Hong Leong Bank<\/a> are the first three banks to support the service, with <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.my\/tag\/Bank-Islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bank Islam<\/a> expected to join soon.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>   <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/4eREnhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/MY-Report-2026.webp\" fetchpriority=\"high\" loading=\"eager\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1000\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Customers can scan a merchant\u2019s QR code displaying the Alipay+ logo using the DuitNow QR function in their banking app.<\/p>\n<p>They can then review and confirm the payment without downloading another app or creating an Alipay+ account.<\/p>\n<p>The launch builds on an existing partnership that has allowed travellers using supported Alipay+ partner wallets to make DuitNow QR payments in Malaysia since November 2023.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-56364\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Praveen-Rajan-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Praveen Rajan\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"  \/>Praveen Rajan<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis connectivity gives Malaysians an easier way to pay abroad. It also shows how collaboration between financial institutions and global payment partners expands the reach of Malaysia\u2019s national payment infrastructure beyond our borders.<\/p>\n<p>More broadly, stronger payment connectivity can help spending flow more easily across borders and strengthen Malaysia\u2019s economic links with the region,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>said Praveen Rajan, Chief Executive Officer of PayNet.<\/p>\n<p>PayNet recorded nearly 30 million cross-border transactions in 2025, up approximately 150 percent from 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Transactions linked to China accounted for much of the growth.<\/p>\n<p>Alipay+ connects more than two billion user accounts through over 50 international payment partners, with over 150 million merchants across more than 210 markets.<\/p>\n<p>PayNet plans to expand the outbound DuitNow QR service to more overseas markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Featured image: (From left) Michael Guo, General Manager of Alipay+ SEA, ANZ and South Asia, Ant International; Praveen Rajan, Chief Executive Officer of PayNet; Danny Chung, General Manager of Alipay+ Global Growth Center, Ant International; and Azrul Fakhzan B.
