However, it has barred the inclusion of new beneficiaries and any revision of existing pension amounts while the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in force.The commission issued the orders after examining a proposal submitted by the chief executive officer of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP). The decision is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted pension payments to vulnerable sections, including senior citizens, widows, single women, persons with disabilities and those suffering from various health conditions.The SEC clarified that pension distribution should be restricted strictly to existing beneficiaries, with no fresh additions under any circumstances. It also prohibited changes to or revisions of pension amounts under any category during the MCC period. The commission further directed that the withdrawal, transportation and distribution of pension cash be carried out exclusively by officially authorised personnel.They must secure the necessary approvals from the competent authorities, including the respective banks, before withdrawing the funds, the SEC directive said. The authorised personnel must also disclose the total amount being withdrawn, along with details of the village or ward where the cash will be distributed and the specific purpose of the withdrawal.Warning against violations, the SEC said strict action would be taken against authorised personnel found acting with ulterior motives, breaching election rules or engaging in suspicious activities. It directed all officials and staff involved in the exercise to strictly adhere to the prescribed conditions.
