Registered visitors are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to secure their spots. The listing says a limited number of drop-in spaces will be offered before the event on a first-come basis. That is an alternative for some visitors, not a guarantee that a family arriving without registration can get in.

Later that day, illustrator-in-residence Ruth Ohi leads Draw with Ruth Ohi from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Using her books Blanket, Scribble and Fox and Squirrel, Ohi will demonstrate how a scribble can grow into a story before children create their own. The library identifies this as a school-age session and says registration is required.

On Sunday, November 8, Make a Scene with Julien Chung runs from 1 to 2 p.m. The workshop combines words with hand-drawn illustrations to create a picture-book-style story. The listing says it is ideal for children aged six to eight, with an opportunity afterwards to present their work on the Storyteller Stage.

The library advertises a free book for every attendee of Chung’s session, courtesy of The Children’s Book Bank. That offer belongs to this workshop; it should not be taken as a promise of a free book at every festival activity.

Check registration before travelling

Both drawing workshops repeat the request for registered participants to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, with only limited first-come drop-in spaces. Their pages carry registration links; check the current booking screen for availability before setting out.

For families choosing a FOLD Kids festival outing, the three listings offer different starting points: a morning celebration, an illustrator’s drawing demonstration or a hands-on storytelling workshop. None requires a child to arrive with a finished story. Confirm the session’s age guidance and practical arrangements with the library if you need more information.

Registered visitors are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to secure their spots.
