Bill Maher has responded to Donald Trump\u2019s historic 1,300-word Truth Social rant<\/a>, escalating their feud.<\/p>\n The recent tension began after Maher, 70, dined with Trump, Kid Rock<\/a> and ESPN host Stephen A. Smith at the White House<\/a> on October 15. The late night HBO host then had Trump\u2019s former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt<\/a> on the October 23 episode of his show, Real Time with Bill Maher<\/a>, during which Maher poked at Trump on various topics.<\/p>\n Trump then launched a Truth Social rant in response.<\/p>\n On Monday\u2019s episode of the HBO host\u2019s Club Random<\/a> podcast with filmmaker Justine Bateman \u2014 recorded prior to Trump\u2019s lengthy social media post \u2014 Maher downplayed Trump\u2019s significance<\/a>. But during Friday night\u2019s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the late-night host came out swinging in his first real response to the Truth Social post.<\/p>\n \u201cDid you see the 1,300-word [Truth Social post] he sent out? Longest ever! Kind of a flex,\u201d Maher said during his monologue. \u201cI tell ya, dining at the White House is the opposite of the Cheesecake Factory \u2014 after you leave, they review you,\u201d he continued, referencing former President Barack Obama\u2019s viral dig at MAGA from earlier this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe went off on me like Kelly Clarkson in a toy store,\u201d Maher said, referencing the singer\u2019s feud with a Brooklyn shop.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cEating with Trump is like dating Taylor Swift: It\u2019s a lot of laughs at the time, but later on, they\u2019re tearing you a new a**hole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The Independent has approached the White House and Swift\u2019s representative for comment.<\/p>\n But Maher didn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n \u201cLook, I don\u2019t want it to be this way. The whole point of having these dinners was talk, disagree but listen \u2014 which he does, in person \u2014 but don\u2019t hate each other,\u201d he said. \u201cI go back to my job here and the heartaches begin. I\u2019m not going to refute everything, but I do have to address a few of the allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher then read from a print out of Trump\u2019s Truth Social rant<\/a>, methodically going through to address the claims against him.<\/p>\n \u201cIt begins: \u2018Let\u2019s talk about the complete and total loser Bill Maher\u2019 \u2014 you got me there. I\u2019ll own that,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cThis is what pisses me off \u2014 he doesn\u2019t even notice what I actually said.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher refuted a few different points, including Trump\u2019s claim that the late night host \u201ccalls him incessantly.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never called you. You call me! I\u2019d be afraid to call you \u2014 you\u2019re the president, I think you\u2019re too busy (well, plainly not),\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n He then added that Trump\u2019s claims that Maher \u201cinvited himself to the White House\u201d and had \u201ca severely bruised eye and nose area\u201d were false, showing photos of himself from that day sans bruising.<\/p>\n Maher\u2019s latest comments come after he said on his October 23 show that Trump<\/a> had the \u201clowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever,\u201d poked fun at the president\u2019s comments about Senator Jon Husted\u2019s body<\/a> and asked Leavitt what Trump could be like during the \u201clame duck\u201d phase of his presidency.<\/p>\n
