That means the first figures should not be assumed to include every location. Check the accompanying reporting information before treating a displayed total as complete.

Advance voting took place on five days in October. A previously announced advance-voting participation figure describes those earlier voting days; it is not the final turnout for the entire election and does not show support for any candidate.

What makes the result official?

Ontario’s 2026 voters’ guide says a municipal election result becomes official when the clerk makes the declaration. The guide says this usually happens a few days after Voting Day, allowing time to check results and ensure votes have been counted properly.

That is general provincial guidance, not a promised Brampton declaration date. An election-night lead should not be described as a certified result. Nor should a prior opinion poll, campaign release or social post replace the City’s returns.

The City’s voting information distinguishes the citywide mayoral contest from councillor contests for ward pairings and the applicable school-board trustee races.
