{"id":955246,"date":"2026-11-02T07:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T07:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/955246\/"},"modified":"2026-11-02T07:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T07:26:08","slug":"rochester-is-getting-all-the-lasers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/955246\/","title":{"rendered":"Rochester is getting all the lasers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rochester is becoming a national hub for laser science, thanks to the National Science Foundation and New York State. <\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/local-news\/2026-07-14\/heres-what-the-ur-led-tech-hub-could-mean-for-rochester-finger-lakes\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reported by WXXI&#8217;s Brian Sharp<\/a>, the University of Rochester will take the initial lead on a laser program that&#8217;s part of a nationwide project called the NSF STELLAR Engine. The work will be based in downtown Rochester&#8217;s Sibley Square and is expected to expand to the Lake Avenue photonics hub. <\/p>\n<p>And speaking of photonics, there has been a slow buildup on jobs and activity.
