Oscar-nominated actor Bill Murray crashed a live CNBC interview Monday with one of President Donald Trump\u2019s top economic advisers, poking fun at the official\u2019s perpetual grin.<\/p>\n
Murray, who appeared on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box\u201d to promote a new streaming series, took aim at Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhy is that man always smiling? I\u2019m a little concerned,\u201d Murray said. \u201cNot worried. Concerned.\u201d <\/p>\n
Hassett was scheduled to join \u201cSquawk Box\u201d co-anchors Joe Kernen and Becky Quick via satellite from the White House. Murray inserted herself into the interview from the show\u2019s set in Manhattan.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would regret it if I didn\u2019t take this opportunity. Could you just say the words, \u2018My dog just died\u2019? I want to see what happens to your smile,\u201d Murray said to Hassett.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell,\u201d Hassett replied with a laugh, \u201cis it your dog or my dog?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYour dog,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay,\u201d Hassett said with a frown. \u201cMy dog just died.\u201d<\/p>\n
Murray dropped by \u201cSquawk Box\u201d with author Tom Coyne to promote their new Paramount+ travel series \u201cA Course Called Ireland,\u201d a guide to the golf courses of Ireland. The six-part documentary series debuted Oct. 25.<\/p>\n
CNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the exchange between Murray and Hassett.<\/p>\n
The former \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d cast member is a longtime CNBC viewer who has appeared on the cable channel\u2019s shows in the past.
