Students at U of T Mississauga are told to shelter in place following a police activity alert from the university. <\/p>\n

The University of Toronto has issued a shelter-in-place order for its Mississauga campus as Peel police respond to what they are calling an \u201cactive incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

The order was first issued at around 9:30 p.m. after the university said that it received reports of police activity at its Mcluhan Court residence<\/a> at 3330 Residence Rd.<\/p>\n

In an update posted to social media at 11:45 p.m., Peel Regional Police said the incident is \u201cisolated and contained to a single residential unit,\u201d near Mississauga Road and Inner Circle, and that no injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe immediate area has been evacuated and residents being asked to shelter in place. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area,\u201d they wrote in a follow-up email.<\/p>\n

The shelter-in-place order remained active as of 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. <\/p>\n

In a statement to CP24, a spokesperson for University of Toronto said they are aware of the police activity on its Mississauga campus \u201cand have issued an alert to the campus community to shelter-in-place\u201d as a result. <\/p>\n

\u201cAlerts will continue to be sent every 30 minutes until police deem the area safe,\u201d a spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
