The 2025 ATP Tour season continues this week with three tournaments across two continents. Taylor Fritz<\/a> and Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> are the top two seeds at the hard-court ATP 500 Mubadala Citi DC Open<\/a> in Washington, while two clay-court ATP 250 events will also take place in Europe.<\/p>\n Alexander Bublik<\/a> headlines the field at the Generali Open<\/a> in Kitzbuhel and Francisco Cerundolo<\/a> defends his title at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag<\/a>. ATPTour.com looks at the top storylines at each event.<\/p>\n FIVE THINGS TO WATCH IN WASHINGTON 2) Can Musetti\/Rune respond? Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> and Holger Rune<\/a>, who both fell to first-round defeats at Wimbledon<\/a>, will aim to bounce back quickly in Washington, where they are seeded second and third, respectively. Musetti is making his debut, while Rune made his only previous appearance in 2022.<\/p>\n 3) Americans in action: Ben Shelton<\/a>, Frances Tiafoe<\/a> and Alex Michelsen<\/a> are among the Americans seeking triumph a triumph home soil. Brandon Nakashima<\/a>, Marcos Giron<\/a> and #NextGenATP Learner Tien<\/a> are also in action.<\/p>\n 4) Former champ Evans back in D.C.: Daniel Evans<\/a> returns as a wild card to the site where he captured his second ATP Tour title in 2023. The Briton owns a 5-5 tour-level record this year, according to the Infosys ATP Win\/Loss Index.<\/p>\n Watch Evans’ triumph in Washington:<\/p>\n 5) Kyrgios\/Monfils feature in doubles field: Both former Washington champions in singles, Nick Kyrgios<\/a> and Gael Monfils<\/a> will this year team for the first time in a star-studded doubles pairing. Since reaching the Bucharest final in April, Sebastian Baez<\/a> has notched just two wins from nine tour-level matches on clay. The second-seeded Argentine will hope to turn his fortunes around at the site of his third ATP Tour title in 2023.<\/p>\n 3) Home hopes: Austrians Filip Misolic<\/a>, Sebastian Ofner<\/a>, Lukas Neumayer<\/a> and 19-year-old Joel Schwaerzler<\/a> all hope to impress on home soil. Misolic reached his first ATP Tour final in Kitzbuhel in 2022 and arrives in good form after his quarter-final run in Bastad, which secured his Top 100 debut on Monday.<\/p>\n 4) #NextGenATP Engel: Justin Engel<\/a>, 17, gained entry through the Next Gen Accelerator<\/a>, which offers increased opportunities for players aged 20 and under to compete at Tour-level. Engel, who last year became the first player born in 2007 or later to win an ATP Tour match, is 12th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah.<\/p>\n 5) Krawietz\/Puetz lead doubles: The reigning Nitto ATP Finals<\/a> champions, Kevin Krawietz<\/a> and Tim Puetz<\/a> are the top seeds in the doubles field. They are chasing their second trophy of the season, but will face competition from the likes of Austrian Lucas Miedler<\/a> \u2014 a two-time winner in Kitzbuhel \u2014 and his partner Francisco Cabral<\/a>.<\/p>\n FIVE THINGS TO WATCH IN UMAG 2) In-form seeded threats: Luciano Darderi<\/a> and Camilo Ugo Carabelli<\/a> will make the trip from Bastad to Umag in high spirits. Darderi outlasted top seed Cerundolo to reach the championship match, while Ugo Carabelli bowed out in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n 3) Former winner Wawrinka: Stan Wawrinka<\/a> has scored just one win from 10 tour-level matches this year, but the 40-year-old can look to his past forays in Umag as inspiration. He won the title in 2006 and reached the final in 2023, his most recent appearance at the event.<\/p>\n 4) Prizmic seeks Jeddah qualification: Many eyes in Umag will be on 19-year-old home hope Dino Prizmic<\/a>, who enters as a wild card. The Croatian, who faces Elmer Moller<\/a> in his opener, is fourth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah.<\/p>\n 5) Defending champ Andreozzi partners Arends in doubles: Guido Andreozzi<\/a> and Sander Arends<\/a>, who are into the Bastad final on Sunday, are the top seeds in the doubles draw. The No. 4 player in the PIF ATP Rankings reached the semi-finals in his last appearance in D.C. in 2023 and enters as the top seed this year.<\/p>\n
1) Bublik\u2019s European summer continues: Following his run in Gstaad, where he is into his first tour-level final on clay, Bublik will lead the field in Kitzbuhel.
