{"id":96004,"date":"2025-08-25T14:03:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T14:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/96004\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T14:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T14:03:08","slug":"widespread-internet-outage-friday-caused-by-damaged-cables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/96004\/","title":{"rendered":"Widespread internet outage Friday caused by damaged cables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"publish-date\">Posted Aug 25, 2025 09:49:44 AM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-modified-date\">Last Updated Aug 25, 2025 09:49:47 AM.<\/p>\n<p>What caused a widespread internet outage in Waterloo Region Friday afternoon?<\/p>\n<p>Waterloo Regional Police said Monday it\u2019s due to extensively damaged communications cables in Cambridge.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the damaged cables were found in the Speedsville Road and Royal Oak Road area of the city around 2:30 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p>They add nothing was stolen but investigators are actively looking for the suspect or suspects involved.<\/p>\n<p>Crews were out all Friday afternoon, evening and overnight to get everything repaired by Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information is asked to contact police or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waterloocrimestoppers.com\/sitemenu.aspx?ID=152&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Crime Stoppers<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Posted Aug 25, 2025 09:49:44 AM.
