The 72-year-old comedian and actress is putting her 46-acre macadamia nut farm in Honokaa, Hawaii<\/a>\u2014best known as the backdrop of her 2011 Lifetime reality series Roseanne\u2019s Nuts\u2014on the market for $1.95 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet along the Big Island\u2019s verdant Hamakua Coast, the estate reflects both Barr\u2019s personal reinvention and her deep connection to Hawaii, where she relocated in 2007. The farm became a stage for her exploration of self-sufficiency and organic farming, far from the spotlight that first made her a household name.<\/p>\n

She broke out in 1985 with a stand-up set on The Tonight Show and rose to fame as the matriarch of the Conner family on ABC\u2019s Roseanne, a role that earned her an Emmy Award in 1993. After The Roseanne Show, a two-season talk series, she dabbled in reality television with Roseanne\u2019s Nuts. Her eponymous sitcom was briefly rebooted before Barr\u2019s departure; the network retooled the show as The Conners.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Barr, the Hawaii farm was a grounding counterpoint to Hollywood\u2019s turbulence. \u201cI had always traveled yearly with my family to Hawaii\u2014it was an essential summer getaway,\u201d Barr tells Robb Report. \u201cAs my son grew older, we found that HPA (Hawai\u02bbi Preparatory Academy) was offering him a much better education than he was getting on the mainland. We decided to move here, and when I purchased the property in Honokaa, we also wanted to build a sustainable home and help feed struggling families in Hawaii.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe farm is as abundant as it is picturesque. More than 4,000 macadamia trees spread across rolling acreage, complemented by avocados, finger limes, apple bananas, and tangerines. At the center sits a 2,716-square-foot residence with four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. A broad lanai frames sweeping ocean and orchard views, while the grounds feature a pool with a waterslide, a pool house, an art studio, a greenhouse, a bamboo outdoor shower and soaking tub, and a garage\/workshop.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe property gained pop-culture visibility when Roseanne\u2019s Nuts premiered in 2011, following Barr, her partner Johnny Argent, and son Jake Pentland as they tried their hands at farming. The 16-episode series captured Barr\u2019s famously irreverent approach to life. It also featured celebrity cameos from Phyllis Diller and Sandra Bernhard.<\/p>\n

My favorite memory\u2014and from what I hear, a favorite for many others\u2014was tearing through the landscape on my tractor. I felt so wild and free! The land, the farming, and the spirit of Hawaii are truly good for the soul.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tListing agent Paul Stukin of Deep Blue HI says the offering is as much about cultural legacy as it is about land. \u201cI\u2019ve represented many iconic properties, but this one stands apart,\u201d he says. \u201cWith macadamia sustaining Hawai\u2018i\u2019s economy, the farm shows how land and community thrive together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter nearly two decades of stewardship, Barr is ready to hand it over. \u201cHawaii will always hold a special place in my heart, but I\u2019m getting too old to do as much as I used to,\u201d she says. \u201cI would love to see someone else take over and continue to share the spirit of Ohana.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThat transition underscores a broader shift in her life. \u201cI\u2019m inspired to sell because, frankly, I\u2019m just too damn old to keep doing this,\u201d she admits. \u201cThe land deserves someone with the spirit and energy to care for it the way it should be. I still own a smaller property in Waimea and now live in Texas, where I\u2019m involved in many exciting projects. I simply don\u2019t have the time to give this place the love and attention it truly deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n
