{"id":96467,"date":"2025-08-25T18:28:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T18:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/96467\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T18:28:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T18:28:12","slug":"canada-posts-talks-with-union-have-been-delayed-again-national","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/96467\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Post\u2019s talks with union have been delayed again &#8211; National"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Discussions between <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/?s=canada+post\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Post<\/a> and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) with the help of federal mediators are temporarily postponed, according to the union.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1756110368_560_70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Citing federal mediators on Monday, the CUPW said in an emailed statement sent to Global News that Canada Post needs additional time to review the union\u2019s response to its \u201clatest and final offers\u201d after <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11314679\/canada-post-vote-to-conclude\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">being rejected in a union administered vote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFederal mediators informed the Union yesterday (Aug. 24) that Canada Post requires additional time to review the comprehensive Global Offers CUPW presented last week. No other meetings have been scheduled at this time,\u201d the CUPW said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Monday\u2019s postponement marks the second delay since originally being scheduled for Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCanada Post and CUPW are in regular contact through the federal mediators. We are in regular contact through the federal mediators,\u201d said Canada Post in its statement sent on Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<p>The current negotiations feature a federal mediator with the goal of helping the two sides come to an agreement, which has remained out of reach for months, although strike action has not been ruled out by either party.<\/p>\n<p>As of Monday, the CUPW is still imposing a nationwide ban on overtime for its members at Canada Post.
