Miriam Margolyes<\/a>, known to U.S. audiences for her role as Professor Sprout in the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d<\/a> movies, has some regrets about her health. <\/p>\n

The actor told the Daily Mail\u2019s Weekend Magazine<\/a> that at 84, she feels as though she\u2019s \u201clet my body down.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t taken care of it. I have to walk with a walker now. I wish I\u2019d done exercise,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s the most ghastly waste of time, except that it keeps you going. So, I\u2019m foolish.\u201d <\/p>\n

Asked if she would ever consider Ozempic for some of her health problems, Margolyes answered, \u201cAbsolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s for diabetics. You shouldn\u2019t take medicine meant for people who are really sick,\u201d she said, adding, \u201cWhat I do think is we should not have food advertising on television.\u201d <\/p>\n

She also got candid about exploring the idea of \u201cassistance in dying,\u201d as the Mail put it. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to go through a slowly diminishing period of pain and embarrassment,\u201d she said. \u201cIf a stroke meant I couldn\u2019t speak, or I was doubly incontinent, or I lost my mind completely, I would ask to be put down. That\u2019s because I want to be who I am. I don\u2019t want to be less than I can be.\u201d <\/p>\n

Margolyes has spoken about how her health has affected her ability to perform, something fellow U.K. actor Dame Judi Dench has also been open about<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dench was diagnosed with an age-related eye condition, called macular degeneration<\/a>, in 2012. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I can\u2019t see on a film set anymore,\u201d the Oscar-winning actor said of her condition in an interview<\/a> with The Daily Mirror\u2019s Notebook publication in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I can\u2019t see to read. So I can\u2019t see much,\u201d Dench said. \u201cBut you know, you just deal with it. Get on. It\u2019s difficult for me if I have any length of a part.
