True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and season one star Matthew McConaughey have set a place for their latest attempt at a creative reunion: Netflix. In a new series made by Skydance Sports, Pizzolatto\u2019s words will return to McConaughey\u2019s mouth in a series known cryptically as \u201cThe Brothers Project.\u201d That\u2019s not to be confused with McConaughey\u2019s other \u201cBrothers Project,\u201d which, as Hollywood Reporter notes<\/a>, is an Apple TV+ comedy starring True Detective all-stars McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Instead, this \u201cBrothers Project\u201d refers to a presumed sports show in which McConaughey is the brother of Yellowstone star Cole Hauser.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Brothers Project,\u201d which desperately needs a real name, is the farthest one of these Pizzolatto X McConaughey reunions has gotten. In 2020, as McConaughey\u2019s monologues were driving the Lincoln brand to new heights, he and Pizzolatto were announced as working on a show called Redeemer<\/a>. About a year later, Pizzolatto negotiated an \u201cearly exit<\/a>\u201d from the show, and like Dora Lange, Redeemer was never heard from again.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, while taking a break from cyberbullying True Detective: Night Country<\/a>, Pizzolatto and McCounaghey were announced to be working on a Mike Hammer movie<\/a>, written by the former and starring the latter. Is that still happening? It\u2019s hard to say, but \u201cThe Brothers Project\u201d has a secret weapon that other PizzoConaughey collaborations lacked: another reunion.\u00a0Yellowstone\u00a0favorite Cole Hauser is also attached, making \u201cThe Brothers Project\u201d a Dazed And Confused reunion for McConaughey and Hauser.\u00a0With Hauser in place, we\u2019ll probably be seeing \u201cThe Brothers Project\u201d before Mike drops the hammer. In the meantime, Pizzolatto\u2019s first feature, Easy\u2019s Waltz, is expected out later this fall.<\/p>\n
