Meghan told Chang that she \u201ccouldn\u2019t be as vocal\u201d in the past, and said she was not able to dress the way she wanted to dress, saying nude tights reminded her of films from the 1980s.<\/p>\n
Meghan reveals that at one point, presumed to be when Queen Elizabeth died, she was apart from her children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, for three weeks. She said that it left her feeling \u201cnot well\u201d.<\/p>\n

So, I think, probably it was different several years ago, where I couldn\u2019t be as vocal and had to wear nude pantyhose all the time.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s be honest, that was not very myself. I hadn\u2019t seen pantyhose since movies in the Eighties when they came in the little egg [packaging]. That felt a little bit inauthentic. While the late Queen wore nude tights, and many women in the family have followed suit, it is a personal choice rather than something dictated by royal protocol.<\/p>\n However, the issue of tights has reportedly been a source of antagonism for the duchess in the past. In 2020, Tatler magazine reported that in the run-up to Meghan and Harry\u2019s 2018 wedding she had a \u201crow\u201d with the Princess of Wales, at the time the Duchess of Cambridge, about whether the young bridesmaids would be required to wear tights<\/a>.<\/p>\n An unnamed source told the magazine: \u201cThere was an incident at the wedding rehearsal. It was a hot day and apparently there was a row over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights or not. Kate, following protocol, felt that they should. Meghan didn\u2019t want them to.\u201d<\/p>\n Meghan was first seen wearing nude-coloured tights at a Buckingham Palace garden party after her wedding to Harry. Online commentators suggested at the time that they were not a good match for her skin colour.<\/p>\n Meghan said date nights with Harry were an important part of their marriage<\/p>\n KEVIN MAZUR\/GETTY IMAGES<\/p>\n Meghan told Chang she did not look at negative remarks made about her on social media and separated herself as \u201ca real person\u201d from the \u201ccaricature\u201d portrayed by her detractors.<\/p>\n The duchess said her life now was more free than when she was a working member of the royal family and featured \u201ca lot of date nights\u201d for her and Harry \u201cbecause it\u2019s important\u201d. However, she acknowledged that she was still constrained by having a high profile.<\/p>\n When asked what she would do if she could be granted anonymity, she replied: \u201cI would go grocery shopping every day.\u201d She added: \u201cI would travel in a different way.
