{"id":993,"date":"2025-07-16T21:08:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T21:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/993\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T21:08:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T21:08:09","slug":"james-harden-doesnt-speak-to-joel-embiid-anymore-after-bad-76ers-breakup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/993\/","title":{"rendered":"James Harden doesn&#8217;t speak to Joel Embiid anymore after bad 76ers breakup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joel Embiid revealed he\u2019s had a falling out with James Harden since the pair\u2019s days in Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/45747447\/joel-embiid-philadelphia-76ers-star-sees-you\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">interview with ESPN<\/a>, the star 76ers big man said he and Harden, who spent a season-and-a-half alongside Embiid before an ugly breakup with the franchise, are no longer on speaking terms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one knows this, but even James [Harden] is not talking to me,\u201d Embiid told the outlet. \u201cThat\u2019s the part I don\u2019t like about being \u2018that guy,\u2019 because it puts you in the middle of those situations. Because if you ask James, he probably believes I had something to do with him not being here. And I\u2019m just like, \u2018I won the scoring title. You won the assists title. When you think you have a relationship like that with somebody \u2026 you lose a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harden was acquired by the 76ers at the 2022 trade deadline from the Nets for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks.<\/p>\n<p>The move put the Sixers in the inner-circle of championship contenders, but the team disappointed in two playoff runs with Embiid and Harden, falling in the semifinal round in back-to-back seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Despite early playoff exits, the Embiid-Harden pairing appeared to be a fruitful one, with the former winning the NBA MVP award in his only full season with the future Hall of Famer setting him up to score.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36556029\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/MT1USATODAY26022424-1041183545-3.jpg\" alt=\"James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers holding a basketball.\" class=\"wp-image-36556029\"  \/>Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden (1) warms up prior to game four of round one of the 2024 NBA Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets at Intuit Dome.
