‘Thamma’ becomes Ayushmann Khurrana’s 8th biggest hit, surpassing ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’

After the success of Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to stamp his authority on the big screen with his biggest film till date- Thamma. It is part of the Horror-Comedy Universe which already has successful films like Stree, Stree 2 , Munjya and Bhediya. Thamma featuring Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar has already started its journey at the box office in a dramatic fashion minting more than Rs 50 crore in just 3 days. The film released on the occasion of Diwali and earned Rs 24 crore on its first day and its three day total stands at Rs 55.17 crore.

And with that Thamma has become the 8th biggest hit of Ayushmann’s career going past Aanand L Rai’s Shubh Mangal Saavdhan which featured Bhumi Pednekar opposite him. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan had earned Rs 42.79 crore from its lifetime collection- it has now been pushed to 9th spot in the list of Ayushmann’s career.

The journey for Thamma is far more over as the film released mid-week on 21st October (Tuesday), with the weekend kicking in from today- the film will witness a huge surge in collection. The film faces two major roadblocks in its journey with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 already dominating the ticket window- in its third week the film collected Rs 78.5 crore and the other being Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat which in 3 days has earned Rs 22.75 crore. Post the success of Sanam Teri Kasam- Harshvardhan is expected to throw a surprise and his latest film might just do that.

Over it’s first weekend, the film is expected to make an entry into the Top 5 films of Ayushmann’s career, but to call Thamma a success it will have to cross the Rs 150 crore mark as the film has been mounted on a huge budget. It is the most expensive film of the horror-comedy universe.
