The Prince Andrew scandal should be the death knell for the royal family, but people will still blindly support them

Prince Andrew will never be stripped of his title as a Prince – as Queen Elizabeth’s son, it’s his birthright after all. But last week, Prince Andrew agreed to “voluntarily” give up his titles and honours, including the Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and his membership of the Order of the Garter.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first,” a statement released by Andrew last weekend read. “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”
