Gardaí are investigating an incident in Thurles, Co Tipperary where the constituency office of a local TD was vandalised.
Fianna Fáil TD Ryan O’Meara described this morning’s attack on his office as more than an act of vandalism.
“It is a deliberate attempt to intimidate me and my team, and any action that threatens our democracy must not be tolerated.”
He said those responsible are attempting to disrupt the work of his team and any attack on politicians and their staff must be treated seriously.

“It is completely unacceptable for anyone’s workplace to be targeted. No one should face threats or intimidation at work.
“These actions are a disservice to the community as a whole and an attack on the people of north Tipperary and north west Kilkenny, who democratically elected me as their local TD,” Deputy O’Meara said.
He said that the perpetrators must be held to account and he will continue to ensure that his staff can work safely and without fear.
“Democracy depends on public representatives being able to do their jobs without harassment or intimidation and we cannot allow actions such as this to stand in the way of that,” he added.
Gardaí in Thurles said they are in the early stages of the investigation and they are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
They are asking anyone who may have been in the vacinity of Parnell Street and the town centre between yesterday evening and this morning and who noticed any suspicious activity to come forward.
They said they are currently examinig CCTV footage and investigations are ongoing.
