Meghan Markle has lost yet another key aide who has parted ways from working with her just three months into the job. It has emerged that Emily Robinson, who was taken on in June as Harry and Meghan’s director of communications, is no longer in the role.

It is believed that Ms Robinson, who previously worked for Netflix as a publicist on The Crown, left earlier this month. It is thought this makes her the 10th publicist to have left their PR jobs for the Sussexes since they quit their royal roles and moved to California over five years ago.

Two, James Holt and Miranda Barbot, have remained with the Sussexes but in non-PR roles. When LA-based Ms Robinson’s appointment was revealed earlier this year, eyebrows were raised when it emerged she had worked on controversial Netflix series The Crown, given it’s unflattering depictions of the Royal Family, including the now King.

She was involved in the final series of the hit drama, which aired controversial storylines that included Prince Harry wearing Nazi fancy dress, Princess Diana’s Panorama interview, and scenes depicting Diana as a ghost speaking to the late Queen.

Her LinkedIn profile makes no mention of working for the Sussexes, and a source told the Daily Mail: “It was her decision. She left a few weeks ago. She’s not a quitter, so things must have been pretty horrible for her to go.”

A spokesman for the Sussexes said: “Ms Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan and additional support for the production company. She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”

Harry and Meghan’s communications team now consists of their chief communications officer, Meredith Maines and their director of communications in the UK and Europe, Liam Maguire.

Earlier this year, the pair were spotted having talks with the King’s press secretary Tobyn Andreae at a London private members’ club.

Since moving to the US, the Sussexes have earned a reputation for having a high staff turnover, with Harry’s former chief of staff Josh Kettler lasting just three months into the role.

Earlier this year, an unflattering cover story in Vanity Fair magazine and reports in the Hollywood Reporter that Meghan “belittles people” and “doesn’t take advice” with claims it has earned her the nickname “Duchess Difficult”.

However, current and former employees of the Sussexes hit back at the claims, painting a very different picture of what it’s like to work for Harry and Meghan.

They included Mr Kettler, who had previously been chief of staff and head of strategic partnerships at the communication platform Cognixion before working for the Sussexes.

He revealed that he was “warmly welcomed” by both of them and their Archewell team. He added: “They are dedicated and hardworking. It was impressive to witness.”
