If there’s one thing MomTok knows, it’s how to live for the plot. That might mean going on a chaotic girls’ trip, hosting a holiday party in full glam, or navigating tough conversations on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” But when it comes to their gym routines, it’s all about consistency.
In conversation for their latest partnership with Cupshe, MomTok members Demi Engemann, Layla Taylor, and Jennifer Affleck say it’s easier to stay consistent when you genuinely enjoy your workout. “I’ve recently been doing more Pilates,” Engemann tells Popsugar. “I tried a barre class for the first time and I’m obsessed.” Taylor has a similar approach to fitness, with an emphasis on intuitive movement. “I try to listen to my body and move daily,” she says. “I love Pilates and anything low intensity.”
“I’m super into movement that makes me feel like I’m in my feminine energy.”
Affleck admits that competing on “Dancing With the Stars” has “completely taken over” her fitness routine. But she’s not exactly mad about it, either. “It’s such an amazing workout, but it doesn’t feel like one because I’m having so much fun,” she says. “I love cardio and HIIT workouts because they keep me moving and energized. Lifting weights has never been my favorite. I’d rather dance it out.” Engemann agrees that weightlifting is not a preferred part of her routine. “I used to lift really heavy, but that’s something I’m putting on pause at the moment,” she says. “I’m super into movement that makes me feel like I’m in my feminine energy. So yoga, stretching, breathwork, Pilates, barre, walks etc. are all feeling really good to me right now.”
That said, feeling good in your body isn’t solely dependent on what you do at the gym. For the MomTok crew, looking good can work wonders, too. Need proof? Taylor, Affleck, and Engemann would point you to their latest fashion endeavor, Cupshe’s For the Plot Party Collection. Working together, the three created showstopping pieces specifically made for holiday parties, late nights, and all other main-character-energy moments. “I wanted it to feel bright, feminine, and fun, but still effortless and elevated,” Affleck tells Popsugar. For Taylor, the collection is especially perfect for the holiday season. “There’s nothing better than going to events and gatherings feeling your best,” she says.
And should you find yourself needing a pick-me-up that a stylish ‘fit or sweaty workout can’t fulfill . . . there’s always dirty soda. “I start my day with electrolytes, and then after my workout, I’ll usually treat myself to a large sparkling water with sugar-free mango, coconut cream, frozen mango, and fresh lime from Swig,” Engemann says. The bottom line? In fitness and in fashion, find what makes you feel your best. And if a dirty soda helps motivate you, we’re here to confirm that MomTok fully supports it.
