Wind generation in Germany soared to the highest since early last year, sending power prices tumbling below zero.
Wind output rose to more than 51 gigawatts on Friday morning, meaning wind and solar energy was able to meet almost all of the country’s power needs, according to data from the European Energy Exchange. Intraday electricity prices slumped as low as minus €7.15 on the Epex Spot SE exchange.
