Transferring ownership of your family home to another person such as a child should only be done following professional advice. Photo: Stock image/Getty
I’m reading a lot lately about Fair Deal and my question is this: In a scenario in which the home of elderly parents is transferred to a family member (such as a son or daughter) at a time when the parents are still in good health, but a right of residency is also granted to both parents; would that scenario avoid any charge being made against the property if the parent needed a nursing home under Fair Deal since they no longer own it?
