Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away on Saturday, October 25th at his Bandra residence due to kidney failure. The actor had undergone a kidney transplant three months ago. As fans mourn his demise, people who have worked with him are deeply shocked. They’ve expressed grief towards his death while also sharing anecdotes about him. While Shah is remembered for a number of movies like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun..’ among others, since the last few years, he’s largely loved for his iconic character Indravadhan Sarabhai from the sitcom ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’. The show produced by JD Majethia, and directed by Deven Bhojani, Aatish Kapadia continues to remain a cult. In a recent interview with PTI after Shah’s death, JD has expressed his shock, revealing he was about to meet him just two days ago. The producer said, “I couldn’t believe it because he had a chat with Aatish Kapadia at 11:00 am. He had a chat with Ratna ji at 12:57. And after two hours we got to know he is no more. Parso (Day before yesterday), we were supposed to meet…”

He added, “I was right below his house, but he said he was too tired to meet. I’m about to retire. I told him, my family also wanted to meet you. Bohot pyaar karte the betiyon se, very close to my wife. Sabse baat kari unne phone pe. He said, ‘look how I’m sounding, I’m so healthy.’ He told me, ‘Aav ne pachi madiye, that ‘pachi’ will never come now. (He told me, come later but that later will never come now).”Majethia revealed further, “Maine dekha kitne bade diggaj ne shok prakat kiya hai. Yahan tak ki PM Modi ji ne bhi likha. Usse mujhe baad yaad aayi, he was also a big fan of PM Modi, whenever there was a new policy or initiative, he would appreciate him.” The producer added that they have a ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ whatsapp group and Satish Shah is largely responsible for keeping it active.
