Cathy Belton is already waiting when I arrive at the Dublin hotel where we’ve planned to meet. She lives nearby with her husband Brian. They travelled back from Galway the night before, where they had been to Cathy’s childhood home for the weekend.
They had been attending the 79th birthday of Cathy’s beloved mother Anna, who died suddenly and unexpectedly a few weeks earlier. Anna, Cathy tells me, had been full of energy, living with her grandson and regularly travelling to Dublin to see her daughters, Cathy and Orina.
