Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry appear to have finally gone public about their romance after they were photographed hand-in-hand as they left a Paris cabaret club where they celebrated the pop star’s 41st birthday.

The singer and Canada’s former prime minister smiled at photographers as they left the Crazy Horse cabaret off the Champs-Élysées, renowned for its artistic choreography and scantily-clad dancers.

Their appearance confirmed months of media speculation about their relationship.

Perry wore a vibrant red dress and Trudeau was dressed in a dark suit.

Video obtained by TMZ showed a fan handing Perry a rose and wishing her a happy birthday before the couple got into a black car.

Trudeau, 53, announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. Perry was reported to have split from the actor Orlando Bloom this year.

Perry and Trudeau first prompted dating rumours in July, when they were spotted having dinner together at Le Violon, an upmarket restaurant in Montreal.

Rumours of a romance intensified when Trudeau and his 16-year-old daughter, Ella-Grace, were spotted at Perry’s Lifetimes tour in Montreal a few days later.

This month, Perry and Trudeau were seen kissing and cuddling on Perry’s yacht off the Californian coast, near Santa Barbara.

Trudeau has three children with Grégoire and Perry, who got engaged to Bloom in 2019, has a five-year-old daughter with the actor. She was previously married to Russell Brand, the British comedian who was accused of rape and sexual assault after an investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches. He has denied all of the allegations.

Trudeau stepped down as prime minister this year after nine years in office which culminated in widespread discontent about his performance. Mark Carney, the former Bank of England governor, replaced him as leader of the Liberal Party and won the Canadian federal election in April.
