It looks like Jason Sherlock could be lining up for a return to the inter-county scene, this time with the Primrose and Blue of Roscommon.
The Dublin legend was in attendance at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon to take in the drawn Roscommon SFC final between Pádraig Pearses and St Brigid’s, sparking talk that he may be set to join incoming senior boss Mark Dowd’s backroom team.
Jason Sherlock’s appearance certainly raised eyebrows, and with Dowd’s full management ticket yet to be officially confirmed, rumours have begun to swirl. The Roscommon Herald were first to report the potential link-up between the former Dublin star and the Rossies’ new manager.

Best known for lighting up the 1995 Championship as a teenager fresh out of minor, Sherlock became a cult hero for Dubs fans and went on to enjoy a long and decorated career in Sky Blue. He later moved into coaching, playing a key role under Jim Gavin during Dublin’s historic five-in-a-row run from 2015 to 2019.
He more recently served as a coach under Dessie Dolan in Westmeath, helping guide them through the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.

There’s been no official word yet from the Roscommon county board, but all signs suggest developments are imminent. It’s already been reported that Iain Daly (Michael Glaveys) and John Rogers (Strokestown) are expected to form part of Dowd’s new backroom setup.
Should Jason Sherlock join the fold, it would be a serious addition for Roscommon as they have seen some high profile retirements over the off-season, with Donie Smith and Ciaráin Murtagh hanging up their boots.
