The sketch comedy-to-horror pipeline has yielded such voices as Jordan Peele and Zach Cregger, and now several members of the renowned comedy troupe The Groundlings made a found footage horror film titled McCurdy Point.

Off the success of its latest film festival honors, the team commissioned artist Rafael Araujo to create a series of character posters, which you can see exclusively below.

During a guys trip to a cabin in the deep woods of Maine, four friends are quickly caught up in supernatural forces they don’t understand.

Ryan Gaul (“Superstore”), Kiel Kennedy, Joey Krulock, and Christian Noah Roberts star with Allison Dunbar (“The Sopranos”), Patty Guggenheim (“Twisted Metal”), and Laird Macintosh (“The Mick”).

Jeremy Brothers and Nick Paonessa co-direct from a script by Brothers and Gaul, based on a story by Brothers, Gaul, and Kennedy.

Brothers, Paonessa, Gaul, and Kennedy serve as producers, with Chris Gierowski (Don’t Fuck in the Woods) and Matthew Gudernatch executive producing.

“We all work in comedy, so we were continually explaining why we were making a horror film,” Gaul tells Bloody Disgusting. “There’s a lot of overlap in executing horror and comedy. With both, you’re hoping to create a surprise for the audience — whether that surprise is a scare or a laugh.”

The movie’s festival run kicked off at Motor City Nightmares last year, where it won Best Feature, Best Directors, and Best in Show. It went on to take home awards from Chicago Horror Film Festival, Hollywood Horrorfest, The Freak Show Horror Film Festival, The Tucson Terrorfest, Unnamed Footage Festival, and Crimson Screen Horror Film Festival.

McCurdy Point’s is being represented by First Slate International as a sales agent.
