Irish Rail is continuing to find ways to fund the return of catering services to Western Inter-City routes.
On-board food catering has been missing from many of Irish-Rail’s routes, since the service was suspended during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Refreshment services have returned on the Dublin – Cork and Dublin – Belfast lines, yet those who want to travel by train on this side of the country, have yet to see the tea trolley make its comeback
Jane Cregan, a company spokesperson with Irish Rail, has said the main reason that catering has not returned to all lines, is because it is an “awful lot more expensive” since the pandemic.
Now, Irish Rail and the National Transport Authority are citing finding shortages as the reason for the lack of a catering service.
