Over 500 children have been on the waiting list for longer than a year

More than 4,000 children waiting to access mental health services.

More than 4,000 children were waiting to access mental health services at the end of last month – with more than 500 of those children waiting over a year for services, new figures show.

The waiting list is the longest in the HSE South West, which covers Cork and Kerry, where 987 children were waiting to be seen by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (Camhs) at the end of September.
