The Clare hurling legend tied the knot with his long-term partner Sharon O’Loughlin after 13 years together.

Sharon, a fellow Clare native like her husband, also hails from a family passionate about hurling. She’s not just a spectator but a successful camogie player who has represented Clare.

She is the sister of Ger ‘Sparrow’ O’Loughlin, a former team-mate of Davy Fitz in the Banner team and a two-time All-Ireland champion.

When did they exchange vows?

The couple said their “I dos” in 2019.

What has Davy shared about his relationship with Sharon?

“The one thing about Sharon, she actually knows her hurling unreal,” Fitzgerald revealed.

“She played for a long time. I’ve known Sharon long before we went out together. She’s Ger O’Loughlin, Sparrow’s sister, who I played with, and I was in business with Ger for years as well. She comes from a real traditional hurling family.

“Is she afraid to speak her mind? No. She has a heart of gold but by God, she definitely is a strong opinionated lady which I totally, totally respect.”

Does Davy Fitzgerald have any children?

The 54-year-old has two children – Colm from his first marriage and Dáithí Óg, who was born in 2022.

Speaking about becoming a dad again in his 50s, Davy said: “Fatherhood is great. The first lad was 25 years ago.

“Like, you would wonder to yourself, am I too old for this? I’m 51 so you’d say to yourself am I too old for this? But to be honest, I wake up with a smile on my face every morning when I see him. I’m really happy he is in my life. He’s great.”
