Karen Kearns left her home in Bray more than two decades ago to forge a business career in the Big Apple, but she never forgets where she comes from

Karen Kearns.
First question for Karen Kearns, formerly of Bray and now resident in the city of Orange, New Jersey: can you please compare where you grew up with the place where you now live? Down the line from the US, the 47-year-old thinks for a moment and then recalls that the family home in the Corke Abbey estate was small. Her grandmother’s house, she remembers, was even smaller, and it must have been bursting at the seams as it was expected to hold the 20 to 30 members of the clan who used to drop in at weekends.
Her current abode on the far side of the Atlantic, that Karen shares with husband Dean and their daughter Piper, is bigger, much bigger, than the one in Corke Abbey.
